A leading healthcare executive for over 30 years, Readus C. Smith III, FACHE, is a serial entrepreneur and a highly experienced business operations leader paving the way for strategic widespread growth in various sectors of the healthcare industry. Readus has a passion for bringing quality healthcare and world-class service to the underserved.

Readus has recently taken on a new leadership role as Chief Managed Care Officer for Wellvana.  His responsibilities include oversight of new growth opportunities and positioning pivotal relationships in the managed care industry. His focus will be to drive higher expectations of patient care and expand them beyond industry standards.

He also maintains his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors for WorldCares Solutions Inc., an international consulting company designed to identify opportunities for business development and growth, while maximizing profitability.

Smith is also President/Partner of MVIP Healthcare Systems. He is responsible for oversight of future and strategic growth of the new health system locations in Florida, with 10 other states to be announced.  The MVIP focus is to build state-of-the art healthcare clinics, bridging the gap by providing convenient quality service and care for the underserved communities, thereby eliminating disparity in healthcare options.

He is the former Chairman/CEO of Promise2Care pharmacy, a premier Joint Commission and CMS accredited pharmacy specializing in pharmaceuticals, diabetic supplies, and healthy living supplements. This tenure earned him recognition throughout the healthcare industry for his commitment to excellence and innovative thinking which led to Promise2Care becoming one of the fastest growing mail-order pharmacies in the country. 

Smith also held the position of Chief Strategy and Development Officer of Island Doctors MSO, a group of preventive care physician offices in 52 locations throughout Northeast Florida providing exceptional care for Medicare/Medicaid patients. Behind his leadership, Island Doctors saw a 300% increase of their patient panel size and the creation of Navigate which saved on both cost and revenue while working with physicians and hospitals simultaneously.

Earlier in his healthcare career, Smith served as President of Closer Health Commercial group, a growing mail-order diabetic supply company. Under his leadership, CHCG quickly became a leading diabetic supplier in the healthcare industry, and one of the largest divisions of its parent company, Closer Healthcare. 

Readus also served as Vice President of Operations for the Regional Medical Center at Memphis (The MED), an acute-care teaching hospital that served six-state regions within 150 Miles of Memphis, Tennessee. Previously, Readus held the position of Chief Operating Officer for Pegasus Airwaves, producer of specialty beds for hospitals, nursing homes and home healthcare markets, and Vice President of Commercial Business Group for Liberty Medical Healthcare group, a direct marketer of diabetes testing supplies and prescriptions.

Smith received his most recent degree from Shepard Broad College of Law at Nova Southeastern University in Health Law & Policy, as well as a Masters in Corporate Operations from LaSalle University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Business Corporate Operations from the University of Memphis, as well as an Associates Degree from Gwinnett Technical Institute in Hotel and Restaurant Operations. Smith has also been featured in national and international publications such as the cover feature for Modern Healthcare, the Whole Truth, and Maximizing Your Potential. Readus also serves as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
